ABOUT: From the very start of works on this project, the goal was clear and defined by the Client. Contemporary apartments for B&B rent which fulfill the high standard of use. What was also clear was how to achieve this from a 1920s building apartment of unordinary spatial structure and functional organization which had survived adaptation into an improvised spa centre. It was achieved by focusing on the unordinary spatial structure and centralization of service functions of the space. In coordination with the Client, we reached functional organization comprising of a studio, an apartment and common space – lobby. These spaces completely fulfill hosting standards, justify their cost-effectiveness and provide end users with comfort different from that of a hotel. The function and the presumed type of user of each spatial element can be read through its specific design. The lobby, also serving as the interactive space for users considering it contains utilities, laundry, office equipment, etc. was designed in a more free manner, same as the studio, whereas the design of the apartment is slightly more conventional but still contemporary.
